Billy Cordes continued their spring tour on Friday with the last of three live performances without fans. This last show took place at Live ACL at the Moody Theater in Austin, TX, and followed two nights of New Orleans streams Tipitina earlier this week.

As has been the case throughout the Spring Getaway, Strings has actively included newer material over the past six concerts. Friday’s show kicked off with “Secrets,” which he debuted on 2/19/21 when he was released. Experience already seen series of live broadcasts from The Capitol Theater. Strings and its accompaniment group – composed of the bassist Masat Royal, mandolinist Jarrod walker, and banjoist Billy’s failure– caught fire as soon as the second song of the set, the instrumental “Home of the Red Fox”, appeared as a highlight of the improvisation of the whole show. Channels updated on Bill emerson original with some improvisations loaded with overdrive before returning to a more traditional environment with “Ole Slew Foot”.

The bluegrass outfit kept the Already seen debut with “Morning Light” and “Running The Route”, before settling in “So Many Miles” by Failing. The Traveling Air delivered an idyllic improvisation shot as the band members threw themselves into the jam before debuting a cover of “New San Antonio Rose”. The Texan playboyhis own point of view Bob willis‘instrumental fits into the more traditional side of the program, as the second set continued with The Stanley brothers‘”Nobody’s Love Is Like Mine” followed by “Love Like Me” by Strings and a closing “Wargasm”.

Back on stage for the second set, Strings and company started with “Dust In A Baggie”. Often a reliable jam vehicle, this interpretation rather quickly gave way to “While I’m Waiting Here” before the instrumental “Pyramind Country” seemed to steal the show. After spirited improvisation and a quick selection of Strings, the band embarked on a raucous cover of Blackfoot‘s “Train Train” before pumping the brakes a little with Johnny cash‘s “Grande Rivière”.

There was still room for more recent debuts with “Love and Regret” before the band succumbed to “Highway Hypnosis”. A welcome position Jerry Garcia / Robert hunter‘S “Bird Song” came next before “Away From The Mire” arrived to serve as the final improvisation climax and “Long Forgotten Dream” finally wrapped up the show.

Watch a preview of ACL Live’s second Billy String live stream series Friday. The strings and the company return to the stage to give a socially distant pod concert to The Long Center in Austin on Sunday.
