A stage to perform, an audience to support and show their love – what more could an artist ask for?

With the growth of the live music entertainment industry, independent artists are now redefining entertainment experiences and audiences love the engagement. Chennai is now turning to live entertainment, which helps so many young people with artistic abilities to express themselves.

Musician Aditya Goswami reveals his love for Chennai, how social media has helped him connect with his audience, and more.

Growing up in Jhansi, musician Aditya was surrounded by music since childhood. Her main influence was her mother, who is a Hindustani classical singer. He grew up in a loving middle-class family, training in classical Western and Indian vocals, guitar and keyboard.

After building a following of over 30,000 followers on Instagram, the musician is now creating his album for his fans, slated for release in 2023.

Aditya, who has produced more than a thousand successful events across India, says he has never encountered such a hospitable and supportive crowd as Chennai. “My audience in Chennai creates musical harmony at the event by engaging, enjoying and requesting songs from them. Even after the event, I meet people and they share how the song resonated and made them relive their memories. It makes me so happy!” he adds.

Over the years, Aditya has built great relationships with many audiences in Chennai, which made him move here. “I returned to Delhi after my classes at AR Rahman University of Music, but the love I received from Chennai was immense, and people were inviting me to perform at events. ended up hosting over 15 events a month in Chennai alone and ultimately stayed here.”

He also wanted to try out different facets of music, like music production and cinematography. “I listen to South Indian music even though I don’t understand the lyrics because the music is deep and connects me on a different level. No matter what I offer, I invariably see people from South India. India, especially Chennai, interact with my posts and videos.” said Aditya.

“Bollywood movies and playing songs might be the best choices to shine in the music industry, but Chennai gives hope to indie artists to lead the way. I think the indie artist industry will be much more important than film industry in the future. In 2017 when I came here, Chennai barely had 1 club that allowed live shows, but is rapidly advancing to 2022, and now it has more than 10 clubs that support independent artists, comedians and concerts. all over town!”

Aditya agrees that virtual entertainment cannot replace live music. He says, “While virtual entertainment and TV shows can be a great way to reach audiences in different parts of the world, nothing can beat live concerts. Every singer has their own aura for connecting with the audience, so it will be difficult to recreate the experience of a real concert. There can also be several technical issues that can arise during virtual events, which makes it even more difficult for an artist to connect with people virtually said Aditya.

Asked about the importance of social networks in his musical career, Aditya answers: “The majority of the concerts that I obtain are through my account on social networks. Social networks have opened the world to the artist, so much so that they’ve become a key essential part of getting your music heard and seen, especially if you’re going the independent route.”

“At any point in my career, my goal will always be to bring people together through music. I still look forward to the day when I can perform for over a million people in a huge stadium, creating musical harmony and emotional belonging,” says Aditya.
