Instagram users with business and creator accounts can access various metrics called insights that show them how their posts are performing. Now, the social network gives them access to even more data by launching insights for Reels and Live video. While live video has been available on the platform for some time now, Reels is a fairly new feature addition: Instagram rolled it out last year after months of testing, giving users an alternative to TikTok. which resides in the app itself.
With the new news data in place, users will be able to see how many plays, likes, comments, saves, and shares their abridged Reel videos are getting and how many accounts they reach. For live videos, the info page will show the number of comments and shares they receive, the number of accounts they reach, and the maximum number of simultaneous viewers.
Additionally, Instagram updated the Account Insights page, accessible via the drop-down menu in the upper right corner, with more useful information. Its Scope section now divides accounts interacting with a user’s content into subscribers and non-subscribers. Plus, it ranks content based on the scope and interaction of the account type to give users an idea of what’s most effective for their audience.
Instagram will also begin rolling out new preset time options on the Insights page over the coming months, so users can filter data other than seeing numbers from the last 7 or 30 days. Finally, users will be able to access insight data on desktop in the near future. Instagram, however, promises more updates for the feature throughout the year, to help businesses looking to grow their audiences and engage their followers.
