Three members of K-pop girl group Red Velvet – Irene, Joy and Yeri – have tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the cancellation of two concerts scheduled for this weekend, the group’s agency said Monday.

The members recently tested positive through self-test kits and then underwent polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests, which came back positive, SM Entertainment said.

Having completed their vaccinations, the three are receiving treatment at home without showing any particular symptoms, he added.

The two remaining members – Seulgi and Wendy – tested negative.

The infections caused the cancellation of the group’s first concerts in front of live audiences since November 2019, the agency said, adding that tickets will be fully refunded.

However, the group will release their new EP as scheduled next Monday, SM said.

Red Velvet planned to hold two “2022 The ReVe Festival: Prologue” concerts on Saturday and Sunday at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium in South Seoul’s Olympic Park, with the latter to be streamed live online for its international fans.

“We will decide later whether or not to reschedule the concerts depending on the artists’ health and the COVID-19 situation,” the agency said in a statement. (Yonhap)
