Tasman Keith releases new music and tours Australia’s east coast

With a playful, smooth yet fat beat, Australian rapper Tasman Keith has released a surprise single, “5FT FREESTYLE”, which showcases a new side of the Gumbaynggirr man’s artistry.

The track harkens back to the hip-hop tradition of old-school lyrical battles, hosts spitting verbal barbs, questioning other rappers’ dexterity, wit and overall ability – “they don’t make nobody like me”, spits Keith.

“‘5FT FREESTYLE’ is a healthy ego, but an ego nonetheless,” the ‘Billy Bad Again’ and ‘ONE’ artist begins.

“Not only is this my time to cast the line and test the waters, but it’s also an introduction to my direct, strong and abrasive personality in the form of a beaten character who is rough around the edges, cheeky and slightly mischievous.

“This character is part of a duality of personalities that is built from my personal experiences, past and present. It’s an entirely new direction in my art, which I’m excited to reveal in due course.”

Filmed in his hometown of Bowraville, Tasman teamed up with director Zain Ayub and Kwame (who produces and engineer) to create a music video for ‘5FT FREESTYLE’.

In March, Tasman Keith will play a trio of east coast shows landing in Naarm, Eora and Meanjin. Tickets are on sale.
