YouTube app introduces new subscription stream filters for ‘unwatched’, ‘live’ and more.

Youtube launched new filters within its iOS app that aims to help viewers more easily locate “unwatched” videos in their “subscription” feeds – among other types of videos.

In subscriptions, the new filters (which YouTube has called “topics”) appear at the top of the column – just below creator stories – as bubbles, allowing users to sort their streams by: “All”, ” Today”, “Continue Watching”, “Unwatched”, “Live”, and “Messages”. (Live refers to live streams or videos that debuted using YouTube premieres, while posts refer to non-video updates from creators). When selected, each filter will display a list of relevant videos in reverse chronological order, 9To5Google reports.

“During our testing, we found that these topics encouraged more subscribers to check their subscriber feed daily for new updates,” YouTube said adds.

Of course, the new filters are optional only, 9To5Google Remarks. By default, viewer subscription streams will include all of the aforementioned categories. Topics are currently rolling out to the YouTube app for iOSand will come to android “in the future,” says YouTube.
